Summer

Even the seasons
want to rekindle
the summer,
mercury climbing
the thermometer
as it grasps
for mid-July
or even late August.
But it isn't the same.
The ice cream truck
has stopped making its route;
the color of the grass
isn't inviting anymore.

And you are gone.
