The Summer-Fall 1999 Authors James David Ballard is a research methods and statistics teacher, and graduate student in sociology, from Jenison, Michigan. Mr. Ballard has been writing for the past year, to "begin expressing emotions about my new job, upcoming marriage and life." In fact, the poem Child reflects his desire "to see a relationship bloom into a new family." Mr. Ballard has published work in the local campus journal. Ruth Dombrow is a semi-retired Clinical Psychologist, and avid potter and painter, from Goldens Bridge, New York. Ruth has been writing for the past three years and has previously published work in Moonsnap and Voices. She is a member of the Lingua North writing group. Richard Fewell is Instructor of Literature & Composition, and African-American Literature at Housatonic Community & Technical College in Bridgeport, CT and a previous contributor to The Fairfield Review.. Mr. Fewell has published a book of poems, Crossing Catawba, and has received two Commission on the Arts grants for writing. He is listed in Who's Who Among African Americans. He has been awarded several honors for Arts & Humanities, and two of his plays were among the five finalists in the Theodore Ward Prize for playwriting. Chris Gage is a research editor from New York, NY. Mr. Gage has been writing for the past ten years and has published in The Atlanta Review, Crab Creek Quarterly, The Connecticut River Review and The California Quarterly. John H. Jennings is a financial analyst and planner from Bedford, Texas and past contributor to The Fairfield Review. Mr. Jennings has been writing essays and stories for the past six years and has published in The Starry Night Review, Image Magazine and Power for Today. He is a former member of the Writer's Voice in Fairfield, Connecticut. David Meuel is a free-lance writer, specializing in speeches for corporate executives and marketing material, from Palo Alto, California. Mr. Meuel has been writing short stories, stage plays, television scripts, and poems for the past 25 years. He writes that he "began writing poetry about 10 years ago in large part because poems are short and I could actually complete several and get a few of them published every year -- a practical if not a noble reason." Mr. Meuel has published poems in university reviews and literary magazines in both the U.S. and Canada, and received a First Place award for his poetry collection, Islands in the Sky, in the 1997 National Self-published Book Awards sponsored by Writer's Digest Magazine. Cristina Querrer is a Computer Consultant and a US Army veteran from Norwich, Connecticut. Cristina has published work in "Adam of Life" from Detroit Press and "Ebbing Tide" on PBS's website of stories about Vietnam. Cristina writes to the poet in us: "Verbalize in your language, in your tonality-- express to me what it means in your country to engulf a wonder-- suddenly, with no time to digest it fully." |
