The following poem was written by Mr. Edwards after reading John Jennings' story Moab, Utah which appears in this issue. Mr. Edwards and Mr. Jennings began discussing this work as members of the Writer's Voice in Fairfield, CT. --jsg Story By Gordon Edwards He tells me of the story he has in mind: a photographer and a beautiful woman, taking pictures for her lover. It is the longing in her eyes that catches him short as a shutter-click He sees the open portal in her eyes the depth of an ache that is an artesian well-- all her being comes through this glass ampulla and he is taken. Peering into the tray he sees the image form as the ripples run to glaze: his own eyes bobbing in this inner pool, looking back, blinking. |
