          Two Poets Waking Up Together
          By Jayme Kurland

          We're both poets
          I know
          That morning you wrote, too
On the same notepad as the birds'
          leeheeheekee leeheeheekee
          (and some cars passed by)
(and the sun-mixed-with-window-pane smelled like your hair)
(and our fingers were shy contra dancers wrapped in violins)
          and the best part was
          we did not speak
