Two Candles

This could be
two candles
perched in
crystal flutes,
making late
night dinner
later,
expectant—
There is
a slight
breeze from
the left,
the golden
poplar leaves
of flame
lean away
like darkness
leans from
light
and I see
you smile
like you do
when passing
me a gift
wrapped
in gold
with a red
bow—
an in-the-beginning
moment—
like
Magi reaching
the end
of a journey,
I am
all about
the opening
