The Winter 1999 Authors Robert James Berry is a Lecturer from Kajang, Malaysia. Mr. Berry has been writing for over twenty years and has published work in journals in the U.S., New Zealand, England, Sweden, Trinidad, Germany and Australia. He is the recipient of the Shell Poetry Prize. Brenda Bilodeau is a college English instructor from Mesa, AZ. Ms. Bilodeau has been writing poetry for the past eight years. She has published work in the Algimore Quarterly. Ms. Bilodeau is a member of the East Valley Writers Group in Mesa, AZ, and a member of the American Association of Community and Junior Colleges. Richard Fewell is Instructor of Literature & Composition, and African-American Literature at Housatonic Community & Technical College in Bridgeport, CT. Mr. Fewell has published a book of poems, Crossing Catawba, and has received two Commission on the Arts grants for writing. He is listed in Who's Who Among African Americans. He has been awarded several honors for Arts & Humanities, and two of his plays were among the five finalists in the Theodore Ward Prize for playwriting. Nathaniel Gillespie is an Environmental Consultant from Danbury, Connecticut. Mr. Gillespie has been writing for the past five years and has published work in the Yale Anglers' Journal. This is his first appearance in The Fairfield Review. Halsted is a poet and writer from Fairfield, Connecticut and past contributor to The Fairfield Review. Ms. Halsted has been writing poetry for the past twenty five years and has published work in The Connecticut River Review, for the National Council of Churches, in college literary magazines, and Randolph-Macon Literary Magazine, where she was poetry editor. She is a member of the Writers Workshop, Westport Poetry Workshop, and Fairfield Poets. Walt Phillips is a retired newspaper journalist and resident of American Canyon, California. Mr. Phillips began publishing his poems and drawings in l959. He has published in numerous journals in "the small press world." He has been nominated twice for the Pushcart Prize, and recently by Chiron Review. Mr. Phillips writes that "all great writing stems from Ecclesiastes." David Prestidge is a copy editor and writer for an advertising firm in Dallas. Mr. Prestidge has been writing poetry "off and on for five years now." He has published work in the December issue of Gravity: A Journal of Online Writing. Mr. Prestidge writes: "Poetry preserves images and memories that don't quite know what to do with themselves. Unmediated by language, these images evaporate. I think writing is instinctual-- cerebral self-preservation." Nancy R. Scott is an artist and art historian from Poughkeepsie, NY. Ms. Scott has been writing for the past l6 years. This is her first publication. Ms. Scott writes that poetry is "an extension of my life as an artist." |
