The Spring-Summer 2001 Authors


Jack Bowman is a psychotherapist from Altadena, CA. Mr. Bowman has been writing for 23 years. He has published work in numerous journals in the US and UK, since 1991, including Poetic realm, Bonfire, and Live Poets Society. He won Honorable Mention "In the Name of Valor" Spring Harvest 1992. Mr. Bowman is a member of The Furniture Guild Poets, Pasadena California.

Dean Van Doleweerd is a teacher from Toronto, ON. Mr. Van Doleweerd has been writing for 15 years. He has published work in The Prairie Journal of Canadian Literature.

Ruth Dombrow is a semi-retired Clinical Psychologist, and avid potter and painter, from Goldens Bridge, New York. Ms. Dombrow has been writing for the past five years and has previously published work in Moonsnap and Voices. She also appeared in the Summer-Fall 1999 issue of The Fairfield Review. She is a member of the Lingua North writing group.

Stephen Elliott, a student and Stegner Fellow at Stanford University, is from San Francisco, CA. Mr. Elliott has been writing for twenty-four years, since he was five. He has published work in Jones Inn, a novel from Boneyard Press: A Life Without Consequences, released this fall from Macadam/Cage. He has won the Stegner Fellowship and the James L. Rainey Award for Fiction.

M.E. Hope is a writer and mother from Groton, CT. She writes "I have been a computer operator in the Navy, a maid, a customer service rep, a farmhand, & forest service employee." Ms. Hope has been writing for 32 years, since she was a young girl. She has published work in Portland Oregonian, Bellowing Ark, Mocha Memoirs, Prairie Poetry, and Blue Mountain Community College Runes. She has been selected as a Fellow for the Summer 2001 Fishtrap, and two of her poems were selected for the Ivillage Poetry Slam 2000. Ms.Hope is a member of a to-be-named poetry group that meets monthly in Groton.

Kim Ovrutsky, a student enrolled in TESOL (teaching English as a Second Language) MA program at Hunter College, hails from Yorktown Heights, NY. Ms. Ovrutsky has been writing for four years. She is a member of the Lingua North writing group.

Tom Ross is a student and librarian from Tunkhannock, PA. Mr. Ross has been writing since the fifth grade.. He has published work in Calliope Literary Journal. He won the Martha E. Martin Award for Fiction Writing.

Carrie Teresa Sage is a receptionist and student from Fairfax, VA. Ms. Sage has been writing since the age of twelve. She has published work in the George Mason Review, and Apathy. Ms.Sage is a member of Words of a Woman Net Society.

Joe Trocino, a consultant specializing in the establishment and operation of Foreign Trade Zones, is from Hamilton, VA. Mr. Trocino has been writing fiction for three years. He has published work in The Loudoun Arts Magazine, Fresh! Literary Magazine, Short Story Magazine, The Inditer Magazine, Wilmington Blues Literary Magazine and others. He won the First Place Short Story Award at Kedco Studios. Mr. Trocino writes "Reality is for those who lack Imagination!"

Sam Vaknin is a columnist and author from Skopje, SK. Mr. Vaknin has been writing for "ever since I remember myself." He has published work in numerous magazines, both on-line and off-lines, dailies throughout the world, and eleven books. He has won the Education Ministry's New Prose Award, Israel, in 1997, and the Rotary Award Bilateral US-Israel, in 1978.

Faith Elizabeth Vicinanza is an Information Technologies Management Consultant from Newtown, CT. Ms. Vicinanza has been writing for over thirty years. She has most recently published work in the Connecticut River Review, The Red Brick Review, and In The Raw. Ms. Vicinanza is a member of Artemis Rising (a group of women poets).

Lisa M. Zaran is a Schematics Specialist for a retail brokerage house from Mesa, AZ. Ms. Zaran has been writing seriously for about four years. She has published work in numerous print and e-zines including KingLog, The Horsethief's Journal, The Green Tricycle, 2 River 'View, AtomicPetals, and Black Dirt. She has won an Editors Choice Award for a poem appearing in the print magazine The Writer's Gazette, Poet of the Month in Indie Journal, and Poet of the Month in Willow.
