Driving on a Country Road

I slow down
to watch a flock
of wild turkeys
cross the road--
they stop to look
at me
and I at them.
It is raining,
the second week
of March,
and I have not
driven this small
country road before.
But now,
all that matters
is in this
moment when
the only thing
that moves
is the rain
that curtains
between us.
