The Fall 2005 Authors

Adele M. Annesi* is a writer and editor from Ridgefield, CT. Ms. Annesi has been writing since age seven. She has published work in The Pittsburgh Quarterly, Catalyst, The Circle, Correspondent Hersam Acorn Newspapers, and Writer for Grolier Online. Ms. Annesi is a member of Connecticut Authors and Publishers Association, Wellspring Writers Workshop, Shepaug River Writers.

Annette Basalyga* is a college teacher from Bridgeport, CT. Ms. Basalyga has been writing since childhood. She has published work in Beloit Poetry Journal, Verbatim, Commonweal, Columbia, Spoon River Review, Hollis Critic and others. She has won the Atlantic Monthly Scholarship to the Bread Loaf, Duncan Lawrie Prize from the Arvon Foundation, and the Chester H. Jones Foundation Individual Artist's Fellowship from the Pennsylvania Council on the Arts. Ms. Basalyga is a member of PEN.

Brad Buchanan* is Assistant Professor of English from Sacramento, CA. Mr. Buchanan has been writing seriously for 15 years. He has published work in more than 100 journals. He has won the Chester A. MacNaughton Award, and the Mona C. Adilman Award (both at McGill University).

Kyle D. Burkhart* is a writer from Fairfield, CT. The Fairfield Review is his debut publication.

Erin Dorso* is a Compliance Specialist and an English Education grad student from Winter Park, FL. Ms. Dorso has been writing since age seven, when she wrote a poem as a gift for her mother on Mother's Day. She's been writing ever since.

John Grey* is a Financial Analyst from Providence, RI. Mr. Grey has been writing for 30 years. He has published work in the South Carolina Review, Hubbub and Permafrost, and others. He won the Rhysling Award for genre poetry in 1999.

Bonnie Enes is a poet and artist from South Windsor, CT. Ms. Enes has been writing since the 70's. She has published work in The Fairfield Review, Yankee Magazine, Hartford Woman, Puddingstones, Nude Beach, Namatse, Pegasus, Boothbay Register, The Trumpeter, the Hartford Courant, and Monhagan Island Poetry Cove. Ms. Enes has won the Maine Fellowship Poetry Award. She is a member of Rowdy Writers at the South Windsor Public Library.

Nancy A. Henry is a Patient Advocate at a psychiatric hospital from Westbrook, ME. Ms. Henry has been writing for thirty years. She has published work in Southern Humanities Review, Poetry International, Atlanta Review, Rattle, Cafe Review and other journals. She was nominated for the Pushcart Prize four times and won an International Merit Award from Atlanta Review. Ms. Henry is a member of Maine Live Poets Society and co-editor and publisher of Moon Pie Press.

Michael Keshigian is a college educator and musician from Londonderry, NH. Mr. Keshigian has been writing since 1996. He has published work in ByLine Magazine, Poetry Depth Quarterly, Taproot, Sierra Nevada Review, Aurorean, Red Owl, and others. He has been nominated for the Pushcart Prize multiple times, was Poet of the Quarter for The Aurorean Journal, winner of the Currycomb English Award, Goodrichie Journal.

Willie James King* is a high school English teacher and student from Montgomery, AL. Mr. King has been writing for "as long as I remember being literate." He has published work in The Southern Poetry Review, Rattle, Mudfish, America, and others. Mr. King is a member of AWP. He writes, "One cannot think without thinking with words."

Simon Perchik is an attorney from East Hampton, NY. Mr. Perchik has been writing since age 11. He has published work in Partisan Review, the New Yorker and elsewhere. Judith Sarah Schmidt, PhD* is a psychologist and cofounder of the Center for Intentional Living (http://intentionalliving.com) from Goldens Bridge, NY. Ms. Schmidt is a member of Lingua, a Connecticut/New York based writers group.

Irene Sherlock* is Associate Director of Publications and Design at Western Connecticut State University and also teaches in the M.F.A. in Professional Writing Program at WCSU. Ms. Sherlock has been writing for more than 20 years and holds an M.A. in English from WCSU, an M.F.A. in Creative Writing from Goddard College and an M.S. in Marriage and Family Therapy from Southern Connecticut State University. Her screenplay, "Fox's Hardware," was optioned by Hearst Entertainment. Her poems and essays have been published in Amaranth, Calyx, Cream City Review, Connecticut Review, Poem-memoir-story, Poetry Motel, Roux, Runes, Slipstream, Tar Wolf Review, The New York Times, White Pelican Review and in several anthologies. Her essays can be heard on WSHU National Public Radio.

Harvey K. Slade* is a theater manager from Raleigh, NC. Mr. Slade has been writing seriously since 1996. He has published work in Vision's Magazine for the Arts, The Powhatan Review, The Black Water Review, Alien Skin Magazine, Nuvein Online, Peridot Books, and Down in the Dirt. He also writes a quarterly column for The Fisted Rose. He writes: "My fiction comes from my imagination and, if necessary, I can force it into a shape. Poetry is different for me. I don't craft a poem so much as I release something someone else planted inside me."

Joe Trocino* is a foreign trade zone consultant from Elmira, NY. Mr. Trocino has been writing for ten years. He has published work in The Loudoun Art Magazine, New Works Review, Wired Hearts Magazine, and others. He won first prize Kelco Studios for the Short Story, In Aranzuez with your Love, and first prize from Xian World View Magazine for a sci-fi short story, the Old Goats Home. He writes: "Reality is for those who lack imagination!"

Robert L. Welby* is a builder from Wilton, CT. Mr. Welby has been writing since 1969, when he returned from Viet Nam. He won the Gallery show at the Conrad Mallet Gallery in Hartford, CT. Mr. Welby is a member of the Wilton Borders Books poets group, "Pencils" at Barnes and Noble in Norwalk, CT and The Veteran's Arts Council, in West Haven, CT. He writes "When You support our Troops remember that they will eventually become Vets. Don't Forget!"
