The Fall 1997 Authors


Karen Dowell is a publisher of Two Dog Press, a small press in Brooklin, Maine, on the web at www.twodogpress.com. She is editor of the poetry anthology, A Year on the Avenue, reviewed in this issue.

Halsted is a poet and writer from Fairfield, Connecticut. Ms. Halsted has been writing poetry for the past twenty five years and has published work for the National Council of Churches, in college literary magazines, and Randolph-Macon Literary Magazine, where she was poetry editor. She is a member of the Writers Workshop, Westport Poetry Workshop, and Fairfield Poets. Ms. Halsted writes: "Vengeance is mine sayeth the Lord."

Curtis Johnson is a senior planner from Naugatuck, Connecticut. Mr. Johnson has been writing since the age of sixteen and has published in the Connecticut Post, Conscious Living, and VMOJA News. He recently won the Black Artist Award, Kwanza Productions. Mr. Johnson is a member of the Fairfield Poets.

Linda Leavitt is a graphic designer and editor from Kendall Park, New Jersey. Ms. Leavitt has been writing creatively since the age of 12 and has published in The Poetic Soul and numerous on-line literary magazines. She is a member of the Athens Avenue Poetry Circle and the New Jersey Poetry Society. Ms. Leavitt writes: "My goal as a poet is this: to look at the world from every skewed angle and bracket these impressions into photographs of verbiage that will not fade in a dusty album."

James A. Sparrow is the director of a non-profit veteran's organization from Stamford, Connecticut. Mr. Sparrow has been writing since he "was a kid." This is his debut publication.
