Two Poets Meeting
by Tessa Gonzalez

We spoke as if we'd
woken up beside each other--
face to face and eye to eye.
We tucked ourselves like dawn
into our villa,
all the time telling stories
in a city we seemed not to know--
I, on my feathers
and he, immersed in bathwater.

And we, with our journals,
stood pensively at sunrise
falling over words.
