The classic poem for this issue of The Fairfield Review was written by Paul Laurence Dunbar, a late 19th African American poet and novelist. It is fitting for month of February when we remember the historical roots of those Americans who did not choose to emigrate across the Atlantic as the Pilgrims did. --egh
