We come
in ones
and twos
to the
meditation
room--
some are early,
staking out
a favored
chair
or couch,
a pillow
on the floor--
some read
some watch
all wait
for the leader
to begin
with opening
remarks,
the small
talk before
the lesson--
and I wonder
if this is
the lesson,
this opening
expectation
that
something
will come
to us,
the readiness
to see
rather than
the seeing
itself,
this is
the meaning.
