Old Dog King By Taylor Graham lies on the sofa reigning, except he's on red and purple pills now. He's passed a thin cup of saline through his veins and sent it streaming into a gray February rain--world full of puppy promises no longer his. And yet, he still can cock a blessing into this bad weather. Spring will come while old dogs like gentle kings wander off in their silver splendor all alone. We tell him "Good dog, stay." |
